Andrew Bailey Cellist
Andrew Bailey, Bloomington, Indiana, American cellist , performs solo, chamber and orchestra works throughout Florida, New York, New England and Midwest. A current student of Professor Susan Moses of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's IU String Academy, Cello Virtuosi program, Andrew was accepted at IU Summer String Academy in 2019 upon relocating to Bloomington from Florida.
As a soloist, a top prizewinner of regional and international competitions and top prize winner of scholarships for summer study.
Solo recital debut at age 10, Venice Arts Center, soloist with orchestra and concert band debut at age 12, Venice Performing Arts Center and Kirkland Presbyterian Church Sarasota, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall soloist debut at age 13, as first place winner of American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, New York City. Top prize winner of Tallahassee Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition,soloist with orchestra Ruby Diamond Concert Hall at Florida State University, First place winner of BBCO Young Artist Concerto Competition,soloist with BBCO orchestra Tallahassee Community College, first place winner of Venice Musicale Young Artist Scholarship Competition and runner up of the AMICCO Young Artist Concerto Competition. Andrew became featured soloist with AMICCO, BBCO, VCO, TYO orchestras and Venice Concert Band.
Andrew began formal cello lessons at the age of seven in Sarasota county. His teachers include Susan Moses, Marnie Kim Jones, Greg Sauer and Ann Alton. His coaches-masterclasses participated; Itzhak Perlman, Richard Aaron, Amir Eldan, Felix Wang, Kevin Lawrence and Sean O'Neil.
Performed over seventy-five concerts, in solo, chamber and orchestra works. As a orchestra musician, assistant principal, Andrew performed with the Perlman Music Program Winter Residency,SuperStrings orchestra in Sarasota, Florida, Itzhak Perlman, maestro. As a principal cellist of the Tallahassee Youth orchestra top level symphony division, Andrew performed at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall of Florida State University.
As a chamber musician at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Summer String Academy, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Sarasota Music Conservatory and Tallahassee Youth Orchestra chamber division, Andrew performed chamber works in Recital Hall of Merrill Hall Bloomington, Indiana, University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont, Florida State University, Florida State Capital, Michael's on East in Sarasota and numerous places of worship in Florida and Vermont.
Andrew's repeat solo engagements include Venice Musicale Scholarship Benefit Concerts, Venice, St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral in Tallahassee and Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Venice to name a few. He was commissioned to perform at a prominent wedding in two locations in the Tallahassee area.
As an honors' student of Indiana University High School and a member of MENSA, Andrew enjoys the flexibility and variety of his challenging academic curriculum.
